How to Access & Navigate the Online Bible Blog

Access the blog via the church website (resources / Online Bible Blog) or by clicking the following link:  http://nowthenalliance.org/Online_Bible_Blog/.  The current blog will be displayed and can be read immediately.  Discussion questions and a "kNOw, DO, BE section are found at the end of each blog.  To Navigate and view other blogs or comments click on a recent blog (upper list on the left side) or click on a month link (lower list on left side) of the blog page.  Once a month is clicked, all of the blogs (and related comments) are displayed for that month.  To add a comment to a blog entry, scroll to the bottom of the blog entry and click the link comments.  After entering your comments, complete the contact information, the security graphical text, and then click "post your comments".  For integrity of the church website, all blog comments must be read and approved prior to being posted on the website.  You are encouraged to post comments!

Why an Online Blog format?

It seems to me that we (Christians) get in the habit of viewing church, and Sunday school specifically, as a once a week endeavor that is done at the church building.  We, myself included, run the risk of too much separation between our concepts of church (building) and Church (body of Christ).  By using a blog format, it is my hope that it will become more natural for all of us to study God's Word, and develop relationships, outside of the church building.  At the same time my concern is that this format will make it easier for us to hide - alone with our computers.  Therefore I will encourage users to do three things while participating:
1)  form small informal groups during the week (or in the Kiononia Kafe) to discuss the Biblical content - (at a minimum respond to the blog with your comments - keeps one accountable);
2)  implement components of the "kNOw, DO, and BE" sections at the end of each blog;  I truly believe that God is concerned more with what we "DO" and "BE", but that first requires that we know & understand; and
3) pray daily, read the Word daily, be Salt & Light daily.

Introduction to the book of Acts:

The book of ACTS. Also referred to as the ACTS of the Apostles or the ACTS of the Holy Spirit.  Concerns the lives (actions) of the apostles AFTER Christ’s accession. And not just their “Sunday” lives, we are going to search, discuss, and emulate their “Monday-Saturday” lives as well.  Our goal will be to Get beyond “head knowledge” alone.  Through activities, personal reflection, and group discussion, we will seek to follow the model of a Christian World View as demonstrated by 12 ordinary men who followed Christ in mind, body, and spirit.   In addition to the Bible, we will refer to John MacArthur's book, "Twelve Ordinary Men" and to Billy Graham's book, "The Holy Spirit", as well as to many online resources, commentaries, photographs, and maps.  In order to experience real success with the online format of this Sunday School class it is important that each person meets together with at least one other person to discuss the referenced chapter of Acts, discuss the blog commentary, pray, and continue a relationship.  Each of you are encourage to post comments, your thoughts, or actions that you have taken!
